Day 1: Restarting My Journey to $40K/Month

February 14, 20265 min read

So today marks the official start of my blog, Jack’s Journey to $40K/Month.
Or I guess you could call this a restart.

I originally tried to document this journey using short-form videos, but I quickly realized they weren’t a great format for sharing my day-to-day thoughts. On top of that, they were a major pain to make every single day. It’s hard to keep videos short, engaging, and within a one- to two-minute limit. I could’ve made them longer, but at that point the videos would’ve dragged on and people probably would’ve gotten bored.

Either way, that was then and this is now.

This is my new official start.
Day one of my journey toward reaching $40,000 per month.

So who are you, and why should I care?

Most people know my basic life story from YouTube, but for those of you getting to know me for the first time, I’ll go over it again.

My name is Jack Miller, and I’ve always hated jobs. Going even further back, I’ve always hated school too. Basically anything that feels like an obligation or a waste of time.

When it came to work, I was always told there was this mythical “dream job” — that if you found it, you’d never have to work a day in your life. I spent a good chunk of my youth trying to find that dream job.

I’ve worked as a fast food employee, a cashier, a bank teller, a personal care assistant, a call center representative, and even a theme park mascot. No matter what I tried, I could never find a job I loved. Because of that, staying in any job long-term was difficult. I’d always end up doing the bare minimum to get by while daydreaming about getting out.

To make matters worse, I ended up in the emergency room a couple of times due to some nasty health complications. That left me with a pile of medical bills and no clear way to pay them off. Between debt and unstable employment, I knew I had to find a way to make more money — or I simply wasn’t going to make it.

That’s when I turned to the internet and started trying different make-money-online programs. Most of them didn’t work, unfortunately. But a few did — and those few paid me big time. Eventually, I was able to pay off all of my medical debt, and I even left my call center job for an entire year.

That was my first real taste of how making money online could genuinely change my life.

So why did you start a blog?

To be completely honest, I started this blog because I believe it’s a good way to attract new leads into my funnel.

My current strategy for reaching $40,000 per month revolves around affiliate marketing and email marketing to my own list. I’m hoping this blog brings in new people who want to follow my journey, join my email list, and potentially become customers down the road.

If someone opts into my newly built funnel to get my free training, I consider that a small win. From there, they’ll enter my email sequence, and I can potentially market and sell to them over a long period of time. I’ve been told this is one of the best ways to build consistent income.

My target audience is anyone who wants to make enough money online to escape their nine-to-five job for good.

So… basically me.

And why $40,000 per month?

Yeah, I know — it sounds like a weird, random number. But there’s a reason behind it.

I was having an internal conversation with myself recently, asking how I’d know when I’ve truly “made it.” Is it when I leave nine-to-five jobs for good? When I buy a house? When I hit six figures?

Those are all decent milestones, but with inflation and rising costs, six figures doesn’t mean what it used to. I wanted something more defined — a clear cutoff point where I could say, I did what I set out to do.

After asking ChatGPT a ton of questions about wealth, income, and what it actually means to be “rich,” I landed on this idea: being in the top 1% of monthly income.

In other words, if you put me in a room with 99 randomly selected Americans, I could confidently say, “Yeah, I make more money than everyone here.”

And why monthly income instead of net worth? While net worth matters, things like stocks and real estate aren’t exactly liquid. You can’t easily spend them. Rent, subscriptions like Netflix, and most expenses operate on a monthly model — so I figured my income should too.

Plus, being in the top 1% of monthly income sounds impressive to me, my family, and honestly, to women who might consider associating with me.

So what’s your current monthly income?

Right now, my monthly income ranges between $5,000 and $6,000. That comes from a combination of my full-time call center job and my online business.

A full-time job isn’t my ideal situation, but it’s hard to argue with stable, consistent income. Leaving my call center job for a year was amazing, but I fell into shiny object syndrome, tried other business models that didn’t pan out, and eventually had to return.

One of my biggest regrets is giving up my YouTube review videos — they were making me a lot of money. Eventually, my goal is to live entirely off my online business income, and I’m looking forward to getting back there.

And that pretty much wraps up my Day 1 post.
