Day 141: Job Hunting, Steaks, and Playing the Long Game 💥

July 04, 20264 min read

Saturday, July 4, 2026

Today officially marks Day 141 of my journey to $40,000 per month online.

Since it's the Fourth of July, I celebrated in a pretty simple way... by eating an unreasonable amount of New York Strip steaks. 🇺🇸🥩 No complaints there.

Outside of that, most of my day was spent applying for more jobs on Indeed as I continue the search for a second job. It might not sound like the most glamorous update, but it's a very real part of this journey, and I want to share the good days, the exciting days, and the boring days too.

Because this blog isn't about pretending everything is perfect.

It's about documenting what it actually takes.

July Income Update 💰

So far, $72.97 has hit my bank account for the month of July.

Not a bad start considering we're only a few days into the month, but of course... I want that number to be much, much higher.

The good news is I'm expecting another paycheck from my overnight call center job next Thursday, so I'm looking forward to seeing that hit my account.

Every deposit, no matter how big or small, gets me one step closer to my goals.

Email List Update 📧

My email list is currently sitting at 2,596 subscribers.

Yes, it's still gradually shrinking, but interestingly, my open rates have actually been climbing lately.

I'll happily trade a little list size for a more engaged audience.

I've also made a small change that gives me a lot more peace of mind.

Previously, subscribers who hadn't opened an email in 60 consecutive days were automatically removed from my list. I decided to increase that window to 90 days instead.

Why?

Because people get busy.

Sometimes life happens. Sometimes someone isn't interested today but comes back a month later and suddenly they're ready to take action.

I'd rather give people a little more breathing room than accidentally remove someone who could become a customer later.

Long-term thinking usually wins.

Why I'm Looking for a Second Job

If you've been following this journey for a while, you probably know that my ultimate goal is to build enough online income that I never have to rely on a traditional job again.

Ironically...

The fastest way for me to get there right now might actually be... getting another job.

I know.

Not exactly the plot twist I was hoping for.

The truth is, I need more consistent cash flow.

That steady income can be invested back into my business—whether that's YouTube videos, paid advertising, software, websites, or whatever opportunity gives me the best chance of growing faster.

Do I enjoy working traditional jobs?

Not really.

If you're reading this, there's a decent chance you've had at least one job that made you think, "There has to be something better than this."

That's honestly how I've felt for a long time.

But I also have to give jobs credit where credit is due.

They provide something online businesses usually don't—predictable income.

And sometimes predictable income is exactly what you need to build something much bigger.

The Waiting Game

I was secretly hoping I'd get a phone call or text message from one of the recruiters today.

Nothing.

Then I remembered...

It's the Fourth of July.

Most companies are probably closed or running with skeleton crews today, so I'll probably have to wait until Monday.

Waiting is hard.

I'm naturally impatient, especially when I'm excited about something.

But sometimes progress isn't about doing more.

Sometimes it's simply about doing the work... and then being patient enough to let the results catch up.

That's It for Day 141

Some days are huge breakthroughs.

Other days are steaks, job applications, and waiting for Monday to arrive.

Both kinds of days matter.

Every application I send...

Every blog post I publish...

Every email I write...

Every YouTube video I upload...

Every small action stacks on top of the last one.

That's how big goals eventually become reality.

If you're building something of your own right now, I hope this reminds you that progress doesn't always feel exciting while you're living it.

Just keep showing up.

Your future self will thank you for it.
