Day 98 Of My Journey To $40,000 Per Month – Why Recurring Income Changes Everything
So today is Friday, May 22nd, 2026, and officially day 98 of my journey to $40,000 per month.
Honestly… it’s kind of wild to even type that out.
Ninety-eight days ago this whole thing was just an idea in my head. A goal. A dream. Something I wanted badly enough to finally start documenting publicly instead of just thinking about privately.
And today gave me one of those little reminders that this stuff actually works if you stick with it long enough.
Today I made about a $66 commission from my current main offer.
Now before anyone rolls their eyes and goes “wow, only $66?” let me explain why this actually got me excited.
This commission didn’t come from me chasing someone down.
It didn’t come from cold messaging people.
It didn’t come from me begging friends and family to buy something.
It came from a lead who signed up under me a while ago.
That’s the beauty of affiliate marketing and hard coded lead systems.
Sometimes you do the work once… and the result shows up later.
That’s honestly one of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve had over the past few years. Traditional jobs usually pay you once for the work you do today. Online business can potentially pay you again and again for work you already did weeks, months, or even years ago.
And no, it’s not “easy money.”
I think people online oversimplify this stuff way too much.
There’s still effort involved.
You still need to build trust.
You still need to create content.
You still need to get traffic and leads.
But man… there’s something incredibly motivating about waking up and seeing money come in from something you built earlier.
That feeling never really gets old.
Current May Numbers
So for the amount of money that has officially hit my bank account for the month of May so far, I’m currently sitting at:
$3,857.46
No new payouts hit my account today unfortunately, but hopefully that changes soon.
I’m still waiting on commissions to clear and make their way through the pipeline. Fingers crossed there aren’t any refunds or weird surprises because online business definitely likes to humble you sometimes.
One day you feel unstoppable.
The next day a refund comes through and your excitement gets punched directly in the face.
That’s just part of the game honestly.
Email List Update
So how’s the email list doing?
Right now my email list is sitting at 4,092 leads.
It actually dropped slightly, but thankfully not by much.
And honestly, I’d rather have a slightly smaller engaged list than a giant dead list full of people who never open anything anyway.
At the moment, I’m not really running paid ads, so new leads have slowed down a bit.
A big thing I’m experimenting with right now is my AI-generated WordPress blog strategy.
I’m hoping that eventually starts pulling in consistent search traffic from Google because if I can get free traffic coming in every day automatically… that could become a massive long-term asset.
But realistically?
That stuff takes time.
And I think that’s something a lot of people struggle with online.
Everybody wants immediate results.
Everybody wants the “secret shortcut.”
Everybody wants the magical overnight breakthrough.
But most things online seem to work more like planting seeds.
You plant them.
You water them.
You wonder if they’re broken.
You question your sanity.
And then eventually something starts growing.
That’s kind of where I feel like I’m at right now.
Why I’m Thinking So Hard About Recurring Income
Today also got me thinking deeply about recurring income.
Because if my real goal is to eventually hit $40,000 per month consistently… I know I can’t rely only on random one-time commissions forever.
I need income that stacks.
Income that renews.
Income that keeps paying month after month.
And honestly, software is probably one of the best ways to do that.
There’s one AI video software I personally use that helps create faceless videos, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how tools like that could fit into my long-term strategy.
Because let’s be real…
If 100 people pay for a software subscription one time, that’s cool.
But if 100 people keep paying every month?
That changes your life.
That’s where things start compounding in a serious way.
And what really inspired me today was seeing a friend of mine reveal in a YouTube video that he’s making around $40,000 per month.
Not once.
Not from a lucky launch.
Not from some random viral moment.
Consistently.
That honestly lit a fire under me again because sometimes you need reminders that these goals are actually possible.
Not guaranteed.
But possible.
And seeing regular people achieve things that once sounded impossible to me has completely changed how I think about money, business, and life in general.
The Bigger Goal Behind All Of This
At the end of the day, this journey was never really just about money.
The money matters obviously.
I’m not going to pretend it doesn’t.
But what I really want is freedom.
Freedom over my time.
Freedom over my schedule.
Freedom to not feel trapped inside jobs I hate forever.
Freedom to wake up without that sinking feeling in your stomach on Monday morning.
Freedom to help the people I care about.
Freedom to actually enjoy life instead of constantly recovering from work.
That’s the real goal.
