Journey to $40,000/Month – Day 114 (June 7, 2026)

June 08, 20264 min read

Back to the Drawing Board

Today is Sunday, June 7th, 2026, which officially makes this Day 114 of my journey to $40,000 per month.

And honestly?

Today was one of those days where I felt like I was stuck waiting around.

You know that feeling when you're excited to move forward with something, but you're completely dependent on someone else before you can take the next step?

Yeah. That's pretty much where I'm at right now.

But before we get into that, let's take a look at the numbers.

June Income Update

So far in June, I've had $337.61 hit my bank account.

Not bad considering we're still pretty early in the month.

And this coming Thursday I'll be getting my regular paycheck from my call center job, so that number should be climbing soon.

One thing I've learned from this whole online business journey is that progress doesn't always happen in a straight line.

Some months feel explosive.

Some months feel slow.

Sometimes you're stacking wins.

Sometimes you're planting seeds and waiting for them to grow.

Right now, I'm somewhere in the middle.

Email List Update

My email list is currently sitting at 3,106 leads.

That's actually down from where it was before.

Not exactly the direction anyone wants to see their numbers moving.

But here's the interesting part.

While the total number of subscribers has been slowly declining, my engagement has actually been improving.

Lately my email open rates have been consistently coming in above 30%, which makes me really happy.

I'd much rather have a smaller list full of people who actually read my emails than a massive list full of people who never open anything.

At the end of the day, engagement matters more than vanity metrics.

A list of people who care is worth a lot more than a list of people who don't.

The Rank & Rent Situation

So let's talk about the thing that's been occupying most of my attention lately.

The Rank & Rent program.

If you've been following these updates, you already know I've been exploring Rank & Rent because I'm looking for more recurring income streams.

The concept is pretty simple:

Build websites.

Get them ranked.

Generate leads.

Rent those leads out to local businesses.

Sounds great, right?

Well...

There's one small problem.

Apparently I need the creator of the program to approve my niche selections before moving on to the next step.

And for whatever reason, I've been waiting about 4 days now without hearing back.

No approval.

No feedback.

No response.

Nothing.

Now, I'm trying not to jump to conclusions.

Maybe he's busy.

Maybe he's behind on messages.

Maybe there are a lot of students submitting niches.

Who knows?

But after waiting several days, I started wondering if maybe my original niche selections were just terrible.

So today I decided to do some detective work.

I started looking at other students who had successfully gotten their niches approved.

I compared their picks against mine and noticed something interesting.

Many of the approved niches seemed to be targeting smaller cities than the ones I originally selected.

My first batch focused on larger populations.

So I went back to the drawing board.

I researched new opportunities.

I rebuilt my list.

And today I submitted an entirely new batch of niche selections.

Hopefully that solves the problem.

Hopefully I hear back soon.

Because at this point I'm eager to start building.

One thing this whole experience has reminded me of is that entrepreneurship is rarely as smooth as the sales pages make it sound.

There's always some unexpected obstacle.

There's always some roadblock.

There's always some moment where you're sitting there wondering if you're doing something wrong.

But the people who eventually succeed aren't the people who never hit obstacles.

They're the people who keep moving forward anyway.

Even when they're confused.

Even when they're frustrated.

Even when they don't have all the answers.

That's the approach I'm trying to take here.

Looking Ahead

For now, all I can really do is wait and see if my new niche selections get approved.

If they do, great.

If they don't, I may just have to start moving forward without waiting for permission.

Either way, I'm not planning on sitting still forever.

One way or another, I'll figure out the next step.

That's been the story of this entire journey so far.
