Day 89 Of My Journey To $40,000 Per Month – I Already Know What Works

May 14, 20265 min read

So today is Wednesday, May 13th, 2026… and officially day eighty-nine of my journey to forty thousand dollars per month.

Today was actually pretty low key. I went in for a physical at the doctor’s office, handled the usual adult life stuff, and spent a lot of time thinking about traffic strategy moving forward.

And honestly?

I think I already know exactly what I need to do.

The hard part isn’t figuring it out anymore.

The hard part is just staying consistent long enough to fully capitalize on it.

The Current Numbers

So first off…

The amount of money that has hit my bank account for the month of May is still sitting at $1,959.00 after that big commission yesterday.

Tomorrow I’m expecting my regular paycheck from my call center job.

But here’s the crazy thing…

I think tomorrow might be the first update during this entire journey where I’ll be able to say that most of my monthly income came from my online business instead of my full-time job.

That’s honestly such a satisfying feeling to even think about.

Because if you’ve been following this blog for a while, then you already know this whole journey has never really been about Lamborghinis or fake guru nonsense for me.

It’s about freedom.

Freedom to wake up without an alarm clock screaming at me.

Freedom to not spend the majority of my life sitting in a cubicle answering phone calls.

Freedom to work on things that actually excite me.

That’s the dream.

And little moments like this make the dream start to feel a lot more real.

My Email List Is Growing Again

My email list has now grown to 4,061 leads.

That growth mainly came from one of my solo ad orders along with some organic traffic from YouTube and Facebook.

And the more I look at my numbers…

The more I realize something important.

My YouTube review videos are doing a LOT of heavy lifting for me.

Seriously.

I should probably be making way more of them than I currently am.

No more shiny object syndrome.

No more constantly jumping around looking for some magical hidden strategy.

It’s time to get serious.

I Already Proved This Works Once Before

I’ll be honest with you.

I already know it’s possible for me to make enough money online to leave my call center job.

Why?

Because I literally already did it before.

Last year I basically went all in on one offer and started pumping out YouTube review videos consistently.

That’s it.

Nothing fancy.

No secret mastermind strategy.

No rented Lamborghini.

No fake screenshots.

Just simple YouTube review videos designed to help people understand products and opportunities they were already searching for.

And it worked REALLY well.

Like… life-changing well.

I made enough money to leave my call center job.

But then something happened that I think a lot of entrepreneurs struggle with…

I got distracted.

I started chasing shiny objects.

I started bouncing around between different make-money-online programs and strategies that honestly didn’t work nearly as well as the thing I was already doing successfully.

And if I’m being real with you…

I still beat myself up over that sometimes.

Because deep down I knew I had something working.

But instead of doubling down on it, I wandered away from it.

Lesson learned.

A painful lesson…

…but definitely a valuable one.

Why I Still Believe In YouTube Reviews So Much

Up to this point, YouTube review videos are still probably the most effective and reliable traffic strategy I’ve personally found.

I’ve experimented with a lot of things.

Short form content on Instagram.

TikTok.

Facebook reels.

Different traffic methods.

And don’t get me wrong… short form content absolutely can work.

But personally?

I feel like short form content can sometimes feel like running on a treadmill.

You constantly need new ideas.

New hooks.

New trends.

New sounds.

New angles.

You have to keep feeding the machine every single day just to maintain momentum.

But YouTube search-based review videos feel different.

You can upload one solid video and it can continue bringing in targeted traffic for months… sometimes even years.

That’s powerful.

The more I think about it, the more I regret ever stepping away from that strategy.

But maybe I needed to learn that lesson firsthand to fully appreciate it.

So Why Am I Still Doing This Blog?

Now maybe you’re wondering something.

If YouTube review videos are the best strategy I’ve found…

Why am I still spending time writing this blog?

Why not just focus one hundred percent on YouTube?

Honestly?

Because I don’t fully trust social media platforms.

And I don’t think you should either.

YouTube.

Facebook.

Instagram.

TikTok.

At the end of the day, we’re building businesses on rented land.

And as online marketers, creators, affiliates, influencers, or whatever label you want to use…

We always have to remember that these platforms can change overnight.

Algorithms change.

Rules change.

Accounts get flagged.

Channels get demonetized.

Pages get banned.

Sometimes fairly.

Sometimes unfairly.

And if that ever happens…

Then what?

That’s exactly why I care so much about building my email list and maintaining this blog.

Because no matter what happens with social media platforms…

My audience will always know where to find me.

This blog becomes my home base.

A place that I control.

A place where people can still come back and follow the journey no matter what happens elsewhere online.

And honestly?

Even though staying consistent with this blog hasn’t always been easy…

I’m really glad I’ve continued doing it.

I think future me is going to be very thankful for that decision.

Final Thoughts

Anyway… that’s about it for today’s update.

I feel like I’m entering a phase where things are starting to become clearer for me again.

Less distraction.

Less overthinking.

More focus.

More consistency.

More doubling down on what’s already proven to work.

And that feels good.
